School Board Election

The Southern Boone County R-I School District will hold an election on April 8, 2025, to fill two (2) positions on the Board of Education, each serving a three-year term. Qualified individuals interested in running for a board position can file their candidacy with the Board Secretary at the Southern Boone County R-I School District Central Office, located at 5275 West Red Tail Drive in Ashland.

Board Candidate Requirements
Candidates for the Southern Boone County R-I Board of Education must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be citizens of the United States of America.

  • Be resident taxpayers of the Southern Boone County R-I School District.

  • Have resided in the district and Missouri for at least one year immediately preceding the election or appointment.

  • Be at least 24 years of age.

  • Not be delinquent in payment of state, personal property, municipal, or real property taxes.

  • Have not been found guilty of, or pled guilty to, a felony under federal or Missouri law, or any offense in another state that would be a felony in Missouri.

  • Not be required to register as a sex offender.

  • Have filed all required campaign disclosure reports with the Missouri Ethics Commission for previous elections, if applicable.

Filing Dates and Times
Candidate filing begins Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. and ends Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Filings will be accepted during regular district office hours:

  • Tuesday, December 10, 2024: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

  • December 11–19, 2024: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

  • Friday, December 20, 2024: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

  • Monday, December 23, 2024: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

  • December 26–27, 2024: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

  • Monday, December 30, 2024: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

  • Tuesday, December 31, 2024: 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The district office will be closed on weekends and December 24–25, 2024, for the holidays. Filings will not be accepted on days the office is closed due to inclement weather.

Ballot Order
Qualified candidates’ names will appear on the ballot in the order of filing.
