Fifth Grade

Mrs. Batye

Mrs. Batye

My name is Jill Batye.  This is my ninth year in education and my fourth year in the SoBoCo School District.  I graduated from William Woods University with my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.

I am originally from Dutzow.  This is a small town south of Warrenton.  My husband's name is Kip and we have two boys, Evan and Jaxon.  Evan is four and Jaxon will be two in December.  We have lived in Ashland now for about ten years and absolutely love the community! My family and I enjoy going to MU, Chiefs, Cardinal and SoBoCo games.  We like taking our dog, Yadi, on walks and going to the park.

This will be first year teaching fifth grade.  I am very excited to have the opportunity to focus on ELA and Social Studies.  I look forward to helping students find their love for reading!

Welcome to 5th Grade!

I want to extend to you and your child my warmest welcome into our classroom. I am originally from California, Missouri and moved to Columbia to attend college. This will be my tenth  year as a classroom teacher.  I graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and a Minor in Psychological Sciences from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Upon graduation I was accepted into the University of Missouri’s Teaching Fellowship Program where I taught 3rd grade at Hallsville Intermediate. This program allowed me to earn my Master’s in Instruction and Curriculum during my first year as a classroom teacher. After completing this program, I was hired at Southern Boone Elementary as a 5th grade science and math teacher.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband, Kyle, and our three children: Cooper, Cohen, and Collyns enjoy BBQing, sitting around the fire pit, and cheering on the Missouri Tigers!

I look forward to interacting with you and your child this upcoming school year. If you have any questions, or if you would like to visit our classroom, schedule a conference, or volunteer to help out, you can contact me at
