The Southern Boone County R-I School District is pleased to announce Alex Fields as the new assistant principal at Southern Boone Middle School. He is currently an 8th grade social studies teacher in the North Kansas City School District and will officially begin his duties with Southern Boone on July 1st, 2024.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Fields as one of the new administrators at the middle school,” said School Superintendent Dr. Tim Roth. “He brings a wealth of experience and will contribute significantly to the school's ongoing success and student achievement.”

Mr. Fields has been with the North Kansas City School District for the past twelve years, where he also served as a boy’s basketball coach, mentoring program coordinator and was part of the district’s technology team.

“The school’s commitment to creating a supportive and dynamic learning environment resonates with my own values,” said Mr. Fields. “I look forward to collaborating with the dedicated staff and getting to know the students and their families. It's an honor to be part of a community that prioritizes academic excellence and personal growth.  I am eager to contribute to our collective success.”

Mr. Fields received his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies Education and a Master’s Degree in School Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and his Specialist Degree in District Leadership and Educational Policy from Purdue University. He is currently working on his Doctorate Degree in District Leadership and Educational Policy from Purdue University.

Mr. Fields has been married to his wife, Megan for five years. She is a teaching and learning coach in the North Kansas City School District. He has two stepchildren, 16 year old Avery and 14 year old Archer. In his spare time, he enjoys cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, Boston Celtics, Purdue Boilermakers and spending time with his English Bulldog, Julius.

The Southern Boone Board of Education met during its regular monthly meeting on May 13th, 2024 and approved Mr. Fields as the new middle school assistant principal for the 2024-2025 school year. He takes over for Ashley Sharp, who is staying with the school district but decided to return to the classroom as an early childhood special education teacher, to allow her more time to spend with her new baby.
