With this week being National School Psychology Awareness Week, we want to take a moment to recognize our two school psychology interns from the University of Missouri, Annie Liu and Joshua McEwen.

Columbia/Boone County Health Department will host a COVID Booster Shot Clinic in the Elementary School Cafeteria from 3:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15th. No appointment is needed.

Veterans are invited to attend Southern Boone High School's annual Veterans Day Assembly this Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the high school gym.

REMINDER: Southern Boone Middle School will host a Community Open House this Thursday evening from 5-6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend to tour the completed new addition and renovation project at the middle school.

Today is National Parents as Teachers Day! Thank you to Emily Woodward, Kathy Bishop and Kim Fleetwood for their commitment to the young children in our community. Parents As Teachers is a free service that provides visits with a parent educator trained in child development and screenings for young children and babies. Congratulations to middle school 5th grade teacher Shelby Contrades for being named a McDonald's Outstanding Educator! Mrs. Contrades is described as someone her students and fellow teachers can depend on. She attends her students' extracurricular activities, helps mentor teachers and thrives as an educator. Congratulations to Primary School Counselor Karri Amelunke for being recognized over the weekend as the Elementary School Counselor of the Year at the Missouri School Counselors Association Conference.

CROSS COUNTRY UPDATE: Connor Burns is the Boys Class 3 State Champion and Alexandra Volkart is the Girls Class 3 State Champion. Southern Boone Girls team finished 9th at the state meet. Evan Mauney came in 6th place, followed by Zafaran Satterfield (52nd), Elizabeth Hess (131st) and Nora Hess (138th) out of 161 runners in Class 3. Brian Burns finished in 21st place and Brian Kitch came in 90th, out of 159 runners in Class 3.

FOOTBALL UPDATE: Due to the rain/storms in the forecast, tonight's football game at Moberly has been moved up to a 4PM start.

High school art students visited the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City on Thursday. Students experienced a wide array of art from ancient cultures to classical Europe, America and Contemporary art. The artwork included paintings, sculptures and furniture.
