District Safety and Emergency Information

Your Child’s Safety is Our Top Priority

In an emergency, it is essential for families to understand our safety protocols to help protect our students and staff. Here is an overview of the key procedures, including the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), and what you can do to stay informed during any emergency situation.

Standard Response Protocol (SRP)

SRP

The Standard Response Protocol is a nationally recognized protocol designed to ensure a common language and set of actions in emergencies. Here are the key SRP actions your child may experience:

  1. Secure: “Get inside. Lock outside doors.”

    • Students and staff move indoors, and all outside doors are locked. Classes continue as usual inside the building.

  2. Hold: “In your room or area. Clear the halls.”

    • Students and staff remain in their current room. Hallways are cleared until an “all-clear” is announced.

  3. Lockdown: “Locks, lights, out of sight.”

    • Students move out of sight and maintain silence. Staff lock doors, turn off lights, and maintain a secure environment until emergency personnel give further instructions.

  4. Evacuate: “To a specific location.”

    • Students and staff are relocated to a designated area. They may leave behind items as needed for quick evacuation, following instructions from school officials.

  5. Shelter: “For a hazard using safety strategies.”

    • Students take shelter based on the specific hazard (e.g., tornado, hazmat, or earthquake).
