The Southern Boone County R-1 Public School District invites qualified persons interested in running for a position on the School Board to file to be a candidate in the April 2, 2024 election. There are two positions available, each with three-year terms. Students in Mrs. Hammann's kindergarten class have been learning about the Thanksgiving holiday and enjoyed their version of a Thanksgiving feast on Tuesday.

Students in Mrs. Rogers' 6th grade class volunteered to prepare potatoes for Thursday's community Thanksgiving dinner at the middle school. The students peeled, washed and chopped 50 pounds of potatoes in an hour.

Third grade students recently read the book, Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy's Parade by Melissa Street. The middle school is hosting a basketball showcase this afternoon. Southern Boone 7th and 8th Grade Girls Basketball teams are taking on California. All middle school students are attending the games to cheer on their classmates.

Students in Mrs. Dooley's 5th grade science class recently worked on creating elephant toothpaste and looked at how the conservation of mass plays a role in chemical changes.
