The school district's new student information system, Infinite Campus is now active and online student registration is now open for the 2023-2024 school year. Please check your email for information regarding creating your parent portal account and completing online student registration. REMINDER: Sports physicals will be given today from 4PM-7PM at the high school. Check-in will be at the main office. Sports physicals are for 7th-12th grade students and are $20 per student. MORE INFO: www.sbschools.us/fallsports

The school district received its brand new 2024 77 passenger bus this week. The bus includes an undercarriage luggage compartment for school activity trips. Standing by the new school bus are Assistant Superintendent Christy Jones and Transportation Director Kyle Foreman.

There's a lot of work taking place at the high school outdoor stadium. The new video scoreboard is in the process of being installed, the new bleacher addition is complete and crews are continuing their work on installing the new field turf and track.

The Class of 1973 held their 50 year class reunion on Saturday and went on a tour of the new Southern Boone Middle School.

Earlier this month, students in Mrs. Dooley's 5th grade summer school science class explored nature. They went on a nature walk to collect all the colors of the rainbow and made nature art pieces. The students also collected items to make musical nature instruments.

Students in Mrs. Golightly's 7th/8th grade summer school science class are learning about DNA's structure. Students created models of the DNA double helix structure and had the opportunity to perform a DNA extraction from strawberries.

Andy Jahnsen visited with 5th grades students during summer school to talk about his job as a project manager for the Gary Sinise Foundation. This week, students are creating blueprints, and building their own tiny houses. They will be incorporating concepts that they learned during math lessons such as area and perimeter.

The Annual 4th Grade Lemonade Stands was held today at the elementary school. Students have been reading the book, The Lemonade War and learned about starting a business and practiced counting back change. All of the money raised will be donated to a non-profit organization.

Students in Ms. DeVault's 5th grade summer school geography class have been learning about different regions of the US and mapping the 50 states.
