There's a lot happening this summer at Southern Boone Middle School as work continues on the addition and renovation construction project.

Trail Boss BBQ & Catering in Ashland is having a Pork Steak Dinner Fundraiser TONIGHT from 5PM-8PM. A portion of the proceeds will go to Southern Boone FBLA and help send two students to FBLA National Convention in Chicago this summer.

Earlier this month, the Southern Boone School District earned state recognition with the Dr. Mary Richter Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support District of Distinction Award for 2022. One award is given out each year to a district in Missouri that demonstrates a firm commitment and dedication to improving the lives of students, the educators who teach them, and the community through innovation, creativity and a firm commitment to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBiS). Southern Boone is an exemplar for other districts by providing a multi-tiered system of support for students and teachers to create a safe and welcoming learning environment for all.
The Ashland Optimist Club is hosting its annual Kid's Fishing Derby this Saturday at the Ashland City Park.

Excavation work is under way on Perry Avenue in Ashland for the site of the new workforce development center. The Southern Boone School District, Mid-Missouri Regional Planning Commission, City of Ashland and Ranken Technical College are partnering together on the project. The technical school plans to offer skills training in construction, health and medical, information technology and manufacturing.
