Students in Mrs. Rogers' 4th grade WINGS class have been studying rocks and minerals. They learned about different kinds of rocks and how they're formed. The students used their knowledge of Moh's hardness scale, breakage, streak and luster to identify given rocks and minerals.
Due to the Southern Boone Girls Basketball team advancing to the Final Four, later this week in Springfield, the Southern Boone School District will be dismissing at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 16th and there will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, March 17th. READ MORE HERE: www.sbschools.us/article/1035887

Today is Read Across America Day! School Superintendent Dr. Tim Roth visited Mr. Roebke's 4th grade class this morning to read to the students. The purpose of Read Across America Day is to help get children excited about reading. The day occurs each year on the birthday of beloved children’s book author Dr. Seuss.

The Southern Boone Board of Education approved the district calendar for the 2023-2024 school year during the board’s monthly meeting on Monday, February 13th, 2023.

Students in the elementary school participated in a Healthy Choices Poster Contest sponsored by Central Bank. One poster from each class was chosen to be on display at Central Bank. The students created posters about the importance of making healthy choices.
This week is National School Counseling Week. It highlights the essential contribution of school counselors and the impact they have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. Thank you to our amazing counselors for everything they do for our students!

Ms. Engemann's 4th grade class participated in World Reading Day today. They were able to hear a read aloud from the author of Smile, So Big. The students had fun interacting with the author and hearing from her personally.

Each year, Daniel Boone Regional Library sponsors a book cover contest for 1st-6th grade students, challenging them to design new covers for their favorite books. The elementary school had two winners this year. Congratulations to Kathryn Helming with a Bad Kitty and the Bad Birthday Party cover and Eben Eiler with a Dog Man cover.
