Southern Boone Elementary School

This week is National Fire Prevention Week. Students in the primary and elementary schools are learning today about the different equipment on fire trucks, fire safety tips and what to do in case of a fire. Thank you to the Southern Boone County Fire Protection District for visiting the schools today and sharing important information with our students.

The Southern Boone Learning Garden provides outdoor, garden-based education for students at the primary and elementary school. The primary focus is to provide outdoor learning opportunities about food, nutrition, agriculture and environmental science. Learn more at sblearninggarden.org. The elementary school was awarded a $500 grant from the Missouri Retired Teachers Association. The funds were used to purchase items for safety bags for each teacher at the elementary school.

The Southern Boone School District is offering an optional protection plan for all student Chromebooks and iPads for the 2022-2023 school year. Parents/guardians have the option to participate in the Personal Learning Device Maintenance Program. The deadline to sign up for the program is Friday, October 14th, 2022. The Southern Boone School District will celebrate National School Lunch Week next week, October 10-14, 2022. The fun and creative campaign theme, “Peace, Love & School Lunch,” highlights the importance of a healthy school lunch to a student’s success both in and out of the classroom. There will be surprise guest lunch servers, fun giveaways and prizes, and a lot of groovy fun planned around school lunch next week.

Ashland FFA is having its annual FFA Barnyard today for students in the Primary and Elementary School.

4th grade WINGS students were challenged to "Save Fred" by using creative thinking, grit, and teamwork. Fred was a gummy worm who went boating, but didn't wear his gummy life preserver. The boat capsized with him on top of the boat and the LIFESAVER under it. Students had to get the LIFESAVER on Fred without dropping him in the water, and could only touch him by using paperclips.

Primary and elementary school students and their families attended Family Counseling Night on Thursday evening. Families got to meet the school counselors from both buildings and do different tasks together as a family.
